Unfortunately, VIOLENCE in our SCHOOLS and COMMUNITIES continues to wreak havoc, break up families, and end lives prematurely.
In this episode, the squad has an open and honest dialogue about gun violence. Facing this problem head-on is cohost, Vondale, Founder of CHAMPS Mentoring program who recently lost the life of one of his young men to gun violence in the streets of Chicago.
Also facing the problem of growing community violence in Lansing, MI is today’s guest, Coach Ashley, an educator and community leader that has been partnering with schools and community organizations to address and prevent youth violence.
Both Vondale and Coach Ashley believe that we must take the village approach in dealing with this social issue. That means citizens, educators, schools, and community organizations coming together to provide programs, events, resources, and mentorship to our young people.
But it doesn’t stop there. We have to DEMAND more from our leaders. We have to write the letters. We have to make the phone calls. We have to come together. This has to STOP.
