Listen to me closely: STUDENT EXPOSURE leads to TRANSFORMATIONAL EXPERIENCES for both students and teachers alike, and these experiences transcend anything that could ever occur in the classroom. Often times we teach content, and we discuss and model concepts like Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) but many times we have to leave the four walls of the building and offer students experiences nationally and internationally for the light bulb to go off. By immersing students in different environments, cultures, and even countries, they get to experience the connection between what we teach them at school and the actual application of those things in the real world. It is our job as educators to always seek and/or CREATE OPPORTUNITIES AND EXPERIENCES for our students.
